Kathmandu Durbar Square ( Hanumandhoka )



Kathmandu Durbar SquareKathmandu Durbar square lies in the heart of Katmandu city. It's called Hanuman Dhoka also. The historical building and temples in the area were erected from the time of King Ratna Malla (1484- 1520 A.D) to Prithivi Narayan Shah (1875 - 1911 A.D) covering the period of Malla, Shah and Rana period of Nepalese history. The entire palace complex here in name after a monkey god called Hanuman. One can see a huge stone statute of Hanuman painted all red next to the main entrance (the golden gate) of the palace. Hanuman here is regarded as a powerful protected of the entire Durbar Square.

Temple of Kuamri (Kumari Ghar)



Kumari GharKumari Ghar built in 1757 AD by king Jaya Prakash Malla is the house of the living goddess ' Kumari ' who is believe to be the incarnation of goddess Taleju the protective deity. Kumari often provider her blessing from the window to the visitors.




Patan



PatanPatan separated from Kathmandu by the Bagmati River and is the second largest town in the valley. It has historically been known by the names Yala and Lalitpur means the city of arts. Patan has a long Buddhist history and the four corners of the city are marked by stupas said to have been erected by the great Buddhist emperor Ashoka around 250BC. Later inscription refer to places in the city in the 5th century AD. Although Patan's great building boom took place under the Mallas in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

Bhaktapur



BhaktapurBhaktapur also known as Bhadgaon (pronounced bud-gaon) in Nepali, or Khwopa (City of Devotees) in Newari, is the third major town of the valley. Traffic-free, the traditionally intact town is also in many ways the most timeless. The cobblestone streets link a sting of temples, monasteries courtyards and monumental squares, and the side streets are peppered with shrine, wells and water tanks at every turn. The Durbar Square was the seat of the Malla Kings and the present structures were erected from the 12th to the 18th century AD. Bhaktapur is located at around 12 kilometers away from Kathmandu city.
